Who we are
AspireVerse Ltd operates Banns. Company number 16352560. Registered office: 82a James Carter Road, Mildenhall, England, IP28 7DE. Contact: hello@aspireverse.co.uk.
Early access and account data
We collect your name, invited email, town or city, authentication identifiers, consent records, session records and service timestamps to administer access and keep accounts secure. Marketing consent is separate and optional.
Catholic community and compatibility information
Your selected Catholic church, relationship intention and compatibility preferences may reveal religious belief or sexual orientation. These are special-category personal data. Banns asks for separate explicit consent before storing church details or using compatibility preferences. During the internal TestFlight stage, these details remain on your device; server storage will not begin until the external pilot notice, consent records and access controls are active.
Private profile photos
The internal build stores three selected profile photos on your device. They are not uploaded or shared. Before an external pilot, Banns must introduce authenticated private storage, restricted human review, deletion controls and an attendance gate that prevents another member seeing a photo before both people have attended the same gathering.
Paid steward interest
If you register interest in a future paid gathering-steward role, we collect your name, confirmed Banns email, city, optional relevant experience, optional availability, consent record and submission timestamps. We use this only to assess and contact people about suitable future paid opportunities. An expression of interest is not a job offer or volunteer commitment. We retain it until the London pilot staffing decision is complete, or delete it sooner if you withdraw consent or ask us to erase it.
Over-18 assurance
Banns is an adults-only service. Invited members must complete an over-18 check hosted by Yoti before community access is enabled. Yoti may use a live selfie, Digital ID or identity document according to the method you choose. Banns does not receive or store your selfie, biometric template, identity document, date of birth or estimated age. We retain the provider session reference, over-18 outcome, timestamps and threshold used.
If facial estimation does not establish that you are safely above the threshold, you can use Digital ID or document verification. You can retry or contact hello@aspireverse.co.uk to challenge an inaccurate result. Community access remains locked until reliable over-18 evidence is returned.
Membership and Apple
Membership checkout is not enabled in the internal build. When enabled, Apple will process App Store subscription payments and RevenueCat will supply entitlement status. Banns will store only the product, entitlement state, expiry and transaction reference required to provide membership; it will not receive your full card details.
Anonymous interest reaction
The landing page lets you say whether Banns sounds like something you would use. That reaction is anonymous: we store only the answer, the country you selected if any, the display language and the time. No email address, IP address or device identifier is kept, and it is never linked to an early-access request. To stop the tally being inflated we briefly count requests against a one-way hash of the network address under our fraud-control legitimate interest; the address itself is not stored.
Lawful bases
- Contract and pre-contract steps: invitations, authentication, membership and delivery of the service.
- Legitimate interests and online-safety obligations: account security, preventing child access, fraud controls, moderation and audit records, subject to necessity and balancing assessments.
- Explicit consent: Catholic church, compatibility preferences and other information revealing religious belief or sexual orientation.
- Consent: optional launch marketing, paid steward contact and any Yoti biometric method presented by Yoti.
Processors and location
Vercel hosts the website and APIs; Neon stores operational data in London; Resend sends service emails from its EU region; Yoti performs hosted age assurance; Apple and RevenueCat will process subscription and entitlement data when checkout is enabled. We assess processor terms, security, retention, subprocessors and international-transfer safeguards before enabling each production integration.
Retention, deletion and rights
Unconfirmed requests and sign-in codes expire, sessions can be revoked, and failed age checks are minimised. You can initiate account deletion inside the iOS app; access ends immediately and deletion is scheduled, subject to any limited legal or safeguarding retention requirement. You may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability or objection, withdraw consent, challenge an age-assurance result, and complain to the ICO.
Automated decisions
The over-18 gate is automated because it is necessary to prevent child access. A failed facial estimate is not final: alternative Yoti methods and a challenge route remain available. Banns does not use solely automated decisions to approve gatherings, suspend members, resolve reports or decide who may connect.
